As I’ve let you know before, of the health situation at home, I wont mention it here, except to say it’s been a rough few weeks coming to terms with a slower pace of life. ‘But hey!’ I hear some comment, ‘I mean, you guys are getting on, right? Oh yes, we are, can’t deny it, but that doesn’t mean one is supposed to sit on the settee and watch movies all day, well, not the always doing stuff kind of people we have always been. We do our movie watching in the evening, thank you very much.
Anyway, I certainly haven’t felt the energy needed to work on my art project, until yesterday, when I sketched out a double page for my graphic novel. Small steps, but something.

Just a little note regarding this section in my story which features the time my brother Robert got to learn the piano. I was about ten, from memory, he, a year older. The main issue was, he was crazy about sport, and no budding pianist, whereas I yearned to play.
So, I watched him during lessons, which were held at our house, and picked up the basics quickly. Whenever he was playing games, I’d practise like mad.

I learned several tunes and boasted a little to my friends at school that I could play piano.
My friend Susan was so impressed she asked me to teach her, which meant me going to her place. Her mother loved me coming around to help Susan with her lessons, and would make us afternoon tea, with yummy treats like Butterfly cakes. But I can’t spoil the outcome of this story just yet …
Other than the above sketches, and brushing up a short story, I’ve been the epitome of an old-fashioned housewife, with an added string to my bow since I have taken over most of the cooking. Kerry you see is a damned fine cook; should be called chef, he’s that good, with dozens of cookbooks at the ready to prepare any kind of meal.

I’m more of an experiential person, and although I have cooked heaps, I’m known more for my baking. My meals have a more slapdash appeal to them. I think Kerry’s enjoying them. Though, I do have to say I rather liked the salmon quiche I cooked one night. And I grocery shop on my own more now, as that too is a job Kerry loved doing, while I do it because needs must. Okay, you get the picture.
Hi. Health situations can be trying and difficult. Absolutely no doubt about it.
